About Ganesh Chaturthi
As the anniversary of Lord Ganesh’s birth, Ganesh Chaturthi is observed. Lord Ganesh is honoured as the deity of knowledge, wealth, and fortune during Ganesh Chaturthi. According to popular belief, Lord Ganesh was born on the Shukla Paksha of the Bhadrapada month. Currently, according to the English calendar, Ganesh Chaturthi happens in August or September.
The celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi, known as Ganeshotsav, concludes on Anant Chaturdashi, commonly referred to as Ganesh Visarjan Day, after ten days. After a spectacular street parade on Anant Chaturdashi, worshippers submerge the statue of Lord Ganesh in a body of water.
Ganesh Chaturthi: How Is It Celebrated?
Ganesh Chaturthi is a significant occasion in our history and customs that is mostly celebrated by Hindus. Usually, the families put up small, colourful clay figures of Lord Ganesha to worship during the day. Offerings are made throughout the morning and evening worship sessions, including flowers, durva (new grass), karanji, and modaks.
Depending on the host’s preference, the celebration may terminate after 1.5, 3, 5, 7, or 11 days if Ganesha is worshipped at home. On the day before Ganesh Chaturthi, the ladies of the families observe Hartalika in some places, which includes a fast. The installation of Gauri statues, who is also known as Devi Durga, coincides with the Gauri festival here.
When the celebration is put on by a local group or club, they like to bring in large Ganesha idols and have musical performances, dancing performances, and other cultural events over the course of 11 days. People definitely look forward to spending some quality time with their loved ones during this nonstop celebration because it is such a vibrant one.
